Hi everyone,
I’m desperately short of fieldwork volunteers for Mon 11th – Thurs 14th August. If anyone is sick of the office and fancies sitting on a riverbank for a day jotting down numeric data and is willing to spare one of those days, I’d be really grateful. Chocolate-based sustenance will of course be provided!

Participants in this Vitae event will have the opportunity to meet with current academics from a range of disciplines and hear about their experiences; ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask, explore how to market yourself for a career in academia both within your department and at interview, look at how to write and win grant applications, find out what life is like as a PostDoc, work with fellow researchers and share experiences with other participants.

Vitae, a new organisation to champion the professional and career development of researchers, was launched on 25 June by Ian Pearson MP.
Funded by Research Councils UK (RCUK) and managed by CRAC: The Career Development Organisation, Vitae builds on previous work by the UK GRAD Programme and UKHERD to build capacity in the HE sector to support researchers. Delivered in partnership with regional Hub host universities, Vitae will work with higher education institutions, researchers and employers to make real and positive change.
